Cardiac Pacemaker Disorder : Electrical System Of Heart

The normal physiology of the heart consists of a heart beat. This heart beat is the result of the electrical impulses which are generated from the SA node which is locate in the right atrium. It is a natural pacemaker of the heart which generates the electrical impulse and transfers it to the AV node through special pathways. This is then responsible for the contraction of the ventricles. When there is a delay in this conduction system of the heart at any point it will result in arrythmias or abnormalities in the heartbeat. According to where they originate from they can classified as those arising from

  • atrium
  • SA node
  • AV node

When it arsis from above the ventricles they are referred to as supraventricular arrythmias. When they arise from the ventricles they are called ventricular arrythmias.
