There is a wise saying that a person’s eyes are the windows to the soul because they reflect the individual’s state of mind. However, this may not be true if the person is suffering from itchy, red swollen eyes. Many eye allergies go ignored, however, some may severely damage our eyes and can threaten our eyesight. Eyes react to a substance that the body interprets as potentially harmful, and as a response to this 'attack', the body produces antibodies, causing the symptoms of an allergic reaction.

Eye allergies are often hereditary and can surface at any age. Some people with sensitive eyes may be allergic to dust which otherwise is absolutely harmless for others.

If eye allergies go unnoticed or are not treated properly they can cause more severe problems that will need serious medical attention.
